THE ORDER OF ST. JOHN is an ancient Christian brotherhood which, in its present form, is an Order of Chivalry, created by Royal Charter, with Her Majesty The Queen as its Sovereign Head. It is a hard-working, practical, volunteer organisation with many thousands of unpaid workers in its two great Foundations - St. John Ambulance and the St. John Opthalmic Hospital in Jerusalem. Its principal objects and purpose are the encouragement of all that makes for the spiritual and moral strengthening of mankind and of all work of humanity and charity for the relief of person in sickness, distress, suffering or danger, without distinction of race, class or creed. It's Mottoes are: 'Pro Fide' and 'Pro Ulitate Hominum' which translated into English means 'For The Faith' and 'For The service Of mankind'.
